The Government of the Bahamas has issued a release announcing the introduction of the Automatic Exchange of Financial Account Information (Amendment) Bill, 2025 by Prime Minister Philip Davis, to align the Bahamas with the OECD Common Reporting Standard (CRS). The bill strengthens transparency and anti-tax evasion efforts by refining definitions, expanding anti-avoidance measures, and reinforcing compliance mechanisms. According to the release, the Bahamas is taking proactive steps with the bill to avoid being placed on the European Union’s list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for CRS-AEOI purposes in 2026.
