Aruba's Minister of Finance and Culture, Xiomara Maduro, reportedly proposed on 11 November 2022 the extension of turnover tax to imports with effect from 1 June 2023. This follows earlier plans to increase the business turnover tax (BBO) rate from 1.5% to 2.5%, which when combined with the health tax (BAZV) and additional funding tax for public private partnership projects (BAVP), results in a total tax rate of 7% from 1 January 2023. For businesses that buy (import) and sell commercial goods, the turnover tax on imported commercial goods would be deductible.
