The Dutch Ministry of Finance has announced that officials from Curaçao and the Netherlands signed a statement on 22 May 2019 agreeing to the submission of a bill as soon as possible to include anti-abuse provisions in the tax treaty between the two countries. This includes limitation on benefits provisions that prevent the benefits of the treaty from being used solely to avoid taxation. The announcement also notes that agreements have been made with Aruba and Sint Maarten to bring tax regulations in line with international standards to combat tax avoidance.
