On 12 December 2013, the Netherlands and Curaçao reached an agreement on the text of a new bilateral agreement for the avoidance of double taxation (the Agreement) between the two countries. The Agreement, which is expected to take effect from 1 January 2015, would replace the existing regulation dating from 1964; the Tax Regulation for the Kingdom (Belastingregeling voor het Koninkrijk).
