On 7 August 2024, Uruguay’s Chamber of Senators (upper house of parliament) approved the pending tax information exchange agreement with the United States. The agreement, signed 24 October 2023, is the first of its kind between the two countries and will enter into force after the ratification instruments are exchanged.
