In accordance with the provisions Art. 30(1), the income and capital tax treaty between Germany and  the United Arab Emirates expires on 10 August 2006, 10 years after its entry into force. The German authorities have decided not to prolong the current treaty. However, Germany will propose to start negotiations on a new tax treaty between the two countries within the first half of 2006.
