On 21 February 2018, officials from Mali and the United Arab Emirates met to discuss strengthening bilateral relation, including ongoing negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries, and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
