On 19 November 2020, the Russian government approved for ratification the pending protocol to the 1998 income and capital tax treaty with Cyprus. The protocol, signed 8 September 2020, is the second to amend the treaty and will enter into force once the ratification instruments are exchanged and will apply from 1 January 2021 as specified in the protocol.
