According to recent reports, officials from Papua New Guinea and Vietnam met 16 to 17 July 2019 to discuss bilateral issues, including the acceleration of negotiations for an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
