New Zealand to Allow Tax Pooling Arrangements for Interest Payments Resulting from Tax Disputes or Amended Assessments
On 3 July 2014, New Zealand's Revenue Minister Todd McClay announced that the country's tax pooling rules will be amended to allow the use of tax pooling arrangements to pay interest owed as a result of a tax dispute or amended assessment. Currently, the rules allow taxpayers to withdraw from a tax pool to cover the tax owed but not any interest that might be due.
