The National Bank of Kazakhstan has announced its decision to reduce the base interest rate to 9.0%, which is down from 9.5%. For tax purposes, the rate is important as it is used in determining late payment interest, which is calculated as 1.25 times the base rate, divided by 365 to determine the daily rate. The rate reduction is effective from 21 July 2020.
