According to a release from the Liechtenstein government, officials from Liechtenstein and Montenegro met on 18 January 2024 to discuss bilateral relations, including the strengthening of relations through the conclusion of an income tax treaty. Any resulting treaty would be the first of its kind between the two countries and must be finalized, signed, and ratified before entering into force.
