Japan to Delay 2015 Increase in Consumption Tax Rate

As a result of two quarters of GDP decline following the increase of the Japanese Consumption Tax from 5% to 8% in April 2014, Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has announced that the planned increase to 10% will be delayed. The rate was to be increased to 10% in October 2015, but will be delayed to April 2017 according to the announcement.
