On 12 November 2024, officials from Brazil and Cape Verde concluded negotiations with the initialing of a social security agreement. The agreement must be signed and ratified before entering into force and, once in force and effective, will replace the prior social security agreement between Brazil and Portugal that was extended to apply in relations between Brazil and Cape Verde in 1979.
